Highlights & Moments from Day 2 @EuCornea2026

Mario Nubile

EuCornea President

Good evening colleagues and friends,

We hope you had a wonderful evening exploring the beautiful city of Porto yesterday and were energised for another full day of learning and collaboration today.

Saturday morning began with a Symposium on Reshaping the Ectatic Cornea. This was followed by the official Opening Ceremony during which delegates enjoyed this year’s highly anticipated Medal Lecture delivered by Beatrice Cochener-Lamard: ‘From Understanding to Control: AI in the Anterior Segment’ a topic of great interest and relevance to all delegates.

This year’s Global Symposium focused on Microbial Keratitis: Controversies and Clinical Consensus, bringing together expert perspectives and lively discussion on this important clinical challenge. Speakers from the 5 continents brought insights in latest updates and real-world practice and geographical diversity on the hot topic of cornea infections,

At lunchtime delegates attended an Independent Medical Education Symposium on Ocular Surface Disease, Lipid Layer and Eyelid Margin: Diagnosis & Management in Today’s Practice. This IME programme was made possible through the support of Alcon and Tarsus Pharmaceuticals.

The day was packed with Free Paper Sessions, Presented Poster Sessions, Instructional Courses, and a range of engaging Young Academic activities, including this evening’s Challenge Quiz between Team Europe and Team Portugal. Both teams were highly competitive, and the event concluded with an exciting draw.

A special thank you to all Dry Lab and Wet Lab sponsors and instructors over the past two days. These courses have provided invaluable practical learning opportunities for delegates to learn directly from expert faculty and instructors. The remarkable speed at which the courses booked out is a testament to both their popularity and the importance of continuing to offer high-quality practical educational experiences at Eucornea. I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our exhibitors over the past few days for sharing their time and knowledge with delegates both within the exhibition area and throughout various Industry Sessions. As the congress day draws to a close, I hope you will enjoy the sunshine and vibrant atmosphere of Porto this evening! See you tomorrow at the congress centre – we have a full morning’s programme waiting for you on the final day of this Eucornea Congress in Porto! View here.
