Highlights & Moments from Day 3 @EuCornea2026

Mario Nubile

EuCornea President

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As the final day of the congress has now drawn to a close, we feel truly fortunate to have spent three wonderful days together in Porto with our peers, friends, and colleagues – building relationships old and new.

The 17th Eucornea Congress has been a remarkable event, filled with memorable moments, inspiring discussions, and outstanding scientific contributions. Over the course of these busy and rewarding days, the programme included 5 Main Symposia, 1 Global Symposium, 5 Free Paper Sessions, 9 Presented Poster Sessions, 8 Instructional Courses, 2 Young Academic and Senior Hot Topic Sessions, a Challenge Quiz Session, 2 DMEK Wetlabs, and 3 Drylabs. In addition, the Independent Medical Education Programme and Industry Symposia took place during the days on Friday and Saturday.

Today, the final symposium of the congress – Ocular Surface and Auto-immune Disease, organised jointly with EUDES – brought our scientific journey to a close.

Throughout the congress, we witnessed exceptional sessions, thought-provoking presentations, and valuable exchanges of knowledge and ideas. The final highlight of today was the announcement of the Best Free Paper, Presented Poster, and E-Poster prizes. We are proud to celebrate the excellence and innovation shared throughout these past days. Congratulations to all the prize winners.

On behalf of the entire Eucornea Board, I would like to sincerely thank each one of you for being part of this congress. We are deeply grateful to our delegates, speakers, instructional course leaders, wetlab and drylab instructors, and our supportive industry partners.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to the Eucornea Board for the commitment, dedication, and countless hours invested in developing such an outstanding scientific programme.

I would also like to extend a very special thank you to the Portuguese Society of Ophthalmology, who has been with us during the full journey of bringing this congress to Porto. Their friendship, support, and collaboration have been invaluable, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to be with us in Porto. I really hope you had the opportunity to take some time to enjoy this beautiful city. All that remains is for me to wish you safe travels home and to warmly invite you to join us once again for the 18th Eucornea Congress in Budapest in 2027.
