Guidelines for Authors
- An author can submit a maximum of one abstract per abstract type
- There is no cost to submit an abstract
- Accepted abstracts may be chosen for an oral presentation (Free Paper/Case Report/Presented Poster) or an e-poster, contributing to the extensive scientific programme
- Every Presenter – including eposter authors – must be registered delegates at the 16th EuCornea Congress in Prague in order for their abstracts to be displayed/presented
- All abstracts MUST be submitted in the presenting author’s name
- On completion of your abstract submission, you will be sent an automated confirmation email. Please check your junk email folder if you do not receive an email immediately
- Presenters must use the same email address for submitting an abstract/registering for the Prague Congress (registration to open in January 2025)
- All Communication will be sent to this primary email address
- If a Free Paper/Poster/Case Report is accepted for display/presentation, the Presenter must undertake to display the poster or present live in Prague
- All abstracts selected will be posted online at www.eucornea.org and will appear exactly as submitted

- Corneal Transplantation & Keratoprosthesis
- Ocular Surface & Tear Film
- Infections and Inflammation
- Keratoconus and Collagen Cross Linking
- Lens and Corneal Refractive Surgery: Corneal Complications
- Pterygium and limbal stem cell failure
- Imaging
Abstract Format
All submitted Free Paper and Poster abstracts must be in English and follow the structured format:
Title – max 250 characters
Purpose – max 100 words
Setting – max 50 words
Methods – max 100 words
Results – max 100 words
Conclusions – max 100 words
Financial Disclosure of all authors
All submitted Case Report abstracts must be in English and follow the structured format:
Title – max 250 characters
Purpose – max 100 words
Setting – max 50 words
Report of case – max 300 words
Conclusion/Take home message – max 150 words
Financial Disclosure of all authors
- No more than 7 co-authors will be permitted per abstract
- Submitters can edit their abstracts up to the deadline by logging back into the Call for Papers section online
- References and credits cannot be included as part of an abstract
- Formulae should if possible be avoided
- Presenting author or any co-author must indicate if they have a financial interest in the subject matter or if they receive money from a company (mention on first slide of presentation)
- The organisers will not accept any responsibility for abstracts that have been submitted incorrectly
Relevant Information
All abstracts will be reviewed by multiple reviewers, graded and accepted or rejected by the Programme Committee. The Committee reserves the right to determine whether a submission is accepted as an oral presentation or for e-poster display. You will be notified about your abstract status at the beginning of March 2025.
Free Papers
Free Papers accepted for presentation at the Prague Congress will be allocated 5 minutes. All authors of accepted Free Papers must be present in Prague and must be registered for the Congress.
Presented Posters
A selection of high scoring posters will be selected for presentation at the Prague Congress and allocated an overall time of 7 minutes – this timeline includes a presentation of 4 minutes, and 3 minutes of questions and answers directly after the presentation.  All presented poster authors must be present in Prague and must be registered for the Congress. All other accepted posters will be in the format of electronic posters.
In order to have posters displayed electronically, all poster authors must be registered delegates.
Case Reports
A selection of high scoring Case Reports will be invited for presentation at the Prague Congress. Presented Case Report authors must be present in Prague and must be registered for the Congress. Each Case Report Presentation will be 5 minutes in length.
All other accepted Case Reports will be in the format of electronic posters. In order to have posters displayed electronically, all poster authors must be registered delegates.
Abstracts will be considered from vision scientists only if they work is in an academic setting and have an ophthalmologist as a co-author. Abstracts from company staff will not be accepted.
How we use your data
If you choose to submit an abstract, we will use your personal details to keep you updated on its status including whether it has been accepted for presentation at the Prague Congress. Your details will also be sent to a third party Audio Visual Company (M-Events) so that they can contact you directly about uploading your presentations.
